Ok, im new to this.

Ive read through the forums, but cant find another post which is similar to the problems that im having at the moment.

Ive recently invested in 2 x 36gb raptors to use in Raid 0. I managed to set up the raid in the bios, and thats working fine.

However, when i start the windows installation, it shows 2 x 36gb drives, so i located the RAID drivers from the DFI website, but unfortunately when you press f6 in windows setup, it will only read them from a floppy disk :(

So what should i do from here?

Continue with the installation, and would i be able to RAID the two drives up after installation? Or would i HAVE to get a floppy drive from somewhere?

Someone help me please!!

Oh yeah, whats best for my setup, 64k or 128k striping?

Thanks

The RAID controller should present the drive as 1x72GB drive, make sure it's 100% certainly setup as a RAID0 array and not defaulted back to JBOD.

On startup, after the bios displays, and the memory is tested, the Raid configuration is shown, and appears as 73gb drive (this is the stage where i can press f10 to reconfigure) under configuration its set as striped.

My sig is deceiving btw, ive just installed a DFI Ultra D

You'll not be able to convert to RAID0 after installation so you're only options really are:

a) Find a floppy drive from somewhere
b) Slipstream the RAID drivers onto an XP install CD, this is nowhere near as simple as slipstreaming a service pack though. There might, however, be some kind of utility for doing it though.

Looks like im popping down the shop to spend £10 on a floppy drive then

Thanks for your help though peeps.

Any idea on what stripe size i should use though?

Don't buy a USB floppy drive either, unless you are sure it works with XP install. I made the mistake of assuming a USB floppy would "just work" but turns out XP setup is very fussy about the ones it supports, and basically won't work at all with practically all of the ones around.
