If I buy a PC with Vista preinstalled, can I subsequently install XP in a dual boot configuration without having to remove Vista first.

I have a dim memory that dual boot can only be carried out when the older OS is installed first, but this may be completely wrong.

because vista knows about xp but xp dont know about vista

thats the way i do it any way...

Thanks Flying Grouse, that is a great find. Should be in a big sticky at the top of the forum!
