installing xp home without cdrom

Hi all, I have a system i want to install windows Xp Home on but have no CD drive in it, I do have an 8gb USB 2.0 pen drive though and was wondering if i can install XP Home from a USB drive as opposed to using a CD rom?

Google installing XP from USB stick, there are literally loads of sites with instructions and differing methods.

its pretty complicated as they all seem to want me to have xp actually installed on the computer that i will be making the USB drive from, I am using a windows Vista computer into which i want to create the XP boot drive (i have my windows xp home cd)

Why cant you use Vista to create the XP Boot drive on the memory stick? Compatibility issue?

Thought about buying one but all i need it for is to test a load of hdd's and hardware to then sell so didn't really want to spend any money, maybe i should use a linux install on my usb drive then, is there any good hdd and hardware benchmark/testing proggys out for linux?

For £10 you may aswell buy the drive tbh. Otherwise, google USB install as said via your vista installation and stop being difficult
