Instant 2 red lights the moment I switch my 360 on

Good to hear mate.

My brothers Xbox is currently overheating like a dog in a hot car. No doubt the burden will fall upon me to fix it.

His symptoms were exactly as yours were and is progressively getting worse to the point where I think his will overheat as soon as its turned on.

Might give a go tonight.

This. Worked for me for a while but only kept it going for a little over a week. After that the oven bake and x-clamp fix was the only thing I could do to kickstart my baby back to life.

Of course it's not permanent, but that's not what he asked.

It'll work if, like me, you want to finish Gears before losing your machine for a couple of weeks :D

It sometimes does this when the contact is too tight on the heatsinks.

I remember fixing a friends xbox and i did the screws up too tight after i did the x-clamp mod. Simply loosening them sorted the problem.

I'm not sure how you'll be able to do it though if it's in warranty.
