I have been getting a strange occurrence when shutting down my system. When i shut down it restarts with the 'INSTANT BOOT' screen and after it has reloaded into windows 7 i can then finally shut down for good.

\i am using an Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 mobo.

Any ideas?

Turn off Instant Boot in the BIOS.
That's the idea of it, you shut down and it reboots into an instant boot mode (S3), then it kinda hibernates itself so you it will boot up in a few seconds next time you turn it on.

Am I correct?

Yeah the PC is shutting down on the first attempt and then restarting with the logo and graphics on-screen saying 'Instant Boot' and once it has reloaded into windows i can then shut down completely.

Cmd prompt has same effect as stated above. It must be an option in the software or bios. But i cannnot see anything that seems related.

Sorry to be a pain but can you direct me to the option as i am haviing no luck finding it. Thanks.

Execute the Instant Boot installation program under Windows.
After the installation is completed, you should find an Instant Boot icon on the Windows desktop.
Double click the Instant Boot icon on the desktop, then Instant Boot main menu will pop up.
On Instant Boot main menu, you can choose "Fast Mode", Regular Mode" or "Disable Instant Boot". After that, please click "Apply".
When you want to shut down the computer, please simply select "Shut Down" from Windows "Start menu".

That should work no problem, straight from ASRock's website. I thought it may have been only in BIOS, but you can disable in Windows.
