Got knocked off my bike early April and didnt get out of hospital until 2nd week June. I've been contacting my insurance co ( bennetts but under written by LV ) to negotiate the price ( written off but according to police it was just fairing damage )
Finally agreed on price today and I get to keep the salvage, I ask to confirm my bikes still complete and not missing any parts, chap taps away on his keyboard and goes quite then tells me he will call me back. Ten minutes later he calls me back and turns out they have sold the bike to salvage back in start of June while I was still in hospital ! Not happy. Escalated to there complaints department now apparently they will get back to me within five days.

Annoying thing is I've been taking to them for weeks about getting my bike back and no one told me that they had scrapped it last month without my permission.

Exactly ! I still have the V5 and all the documentation and I've rejected every offer they have made.
Good, keep rejecting and contact solicitors. Some of the companies specialise in bike related cases and mostly ran by bikers, don't know of any top of my head though... :/

What bike was it?

Ducati 749 Old bike now but was in immaculate condition prior to accident and according to police only suffered faring damage. It was a fairly low speed accident.

Sorry to hear that, I'd be angry as well given the lack of comms etc. Please update what you can as I'd be interested to see where this goes

They called today and offered me £500 to apologise for selling my bike which I rejected. The chap who bought it has broken it and has got about £3k for the pasts he has sold so far !

So in my eyes, they stole and sold your bike (not sure how it'd be seen legally). You need to go legal. They're offering you £500 because they know you'll win if you go legal.

How do you know how much the guy who's bought it made on parts?

It'd be worth getting all the information you can about those transactions e.g. Where he sold the parts, screenshots of final bids etc so you can prove it brought around £3000.

Not saying you haven't thought of this, but if you can't prove it and let the information expire etc then you'll be trying to prove the unprovable

Tbqfh ide report it to the police as your motorcycle has been stolen & disposed of, & ide leave it to the police to sort out where it's gone & how much it's earnt etc, & I think once the police are involved it might well focus the insurance bods minds & speed up a satisfactory outcome, I certainly wouldn't spend any more time talking to the cretins at the insurance co until the plod are involved.

I searched by completed listings and added up all sold parts from my bike.

He even sold the exhaust as a termi system ( its actually a racefit ) and sold it for £899 !

Quick update, I've now raised a complaint with the financial ombudsman who were very helpful. So will see how they get on

Any update on this James, it's been nearly 3 weeks since the ombudsman got involved & I'm curious to see if they've done anything other than be helpful?.

Oh wow, completely missed this. I'd be taking them to he cleaners tbh. Not only to get the value back but to make them suffer. You don't mess with someone's bike, that's sacrilege.

If I remember rightly they have something like 28days to carry out initial enquiries and then get in touch with the person who makes the complaint. And obviously it all depends how quickly the insurance company get back to them as well it can take a while unfortunately.

Not a lot has happened so far apart from the ombudsman has raised a separate complaint regarding the rudeness of the engineers when they were talking to me.

The ombudsman replied to my ebay list of parts acknowledging it but saying that there is no proof that the parts are mine.
I responded saying that I have hundreds of pictures of the bike taken when I have repaired / maintained which show the parts are mine.
