Insurance cheaper from same provider via comparison site than direct?

Say you get an insurance quote through a comparison site and the cheapest quote is from provider X...then going to provider X's site and getting a quote comes out more expensive, is there some implicit betrayal of the assumed trust with the insurer by taking the cheaper quote since different questions are asked in each case? E.g., say the comparison site has one option (yes/no) for engine modification to increase output, whilst the forms for provider X directly break the engine modification into gained power bands (of which you choose a high band, and thus push the premium up).

Stupid/niggly I know :o

I'd check the details of the policy in the lower quote. I've had- modifications disappear, mileage drop by 75%, business use disappear, excesses triple and other inaccuracies between comparison sites and insurers. Main reason I don't use them anymore.

After talking to them directly it has been put through as 1-10% instead of 11-25%. I guess the answer is if you bought through the comparison site you're morally fine if you don't realise the details are incorrect, but legally - not so sure. Whether you'd get away with it is another thing (stick your crumpled car on a rolling road? I think not...), but it's another £100 on the premium that could be avoided if you're unscrupulous.
