I think I'm best known on these forums as being the only member to pay over £2000 to insure a Rover 214 in my first year driving.

Well, when I renewed in November it dropped down to just over £1400.

Now as some people here will know, I recently moved house to a much better area. The car is no longer parked on the road and I haven't seen as much as a hint of chav-life. The estate is very smart and is full of nice, expensive cars.

However, I got my new cover note through last night to show the change of address, and what's this... IT'S GONE BACK UP!!!

I'm actually paying more than I was in my first year of driving!!! I can't believe it!

So, as soon as I get paid, I'm cancelling my insurance with CIS and going to go with another company. I've had quotes of £750 from NUD with 2 years NCD, but it turns out I actually have 45%, which I'm guessing is 3 years.

Bloody insurance, who'd have it

Lol, i'm loving insurance quotes these days, mine has sucessively got cheaper and cheaper (even with a change to a faster car).

1st year - Corsa P reg 1.2 8v - £1200 Comp
2nd year - Saxo VTR - £900 Comp
3rd year - Saxo VTR - £700 Comp
4th year - Saxo VTR - £400 Comp (just renewed)

Looking at around £700-900 for my next car :) Oh the joys of NCB!

I am 20 and pay £700 on a focus 1.6 with a few mods declared. 3years NCB. But just done a provisional quot for a 111s when I'm 21 and....... £1500 thats what I payes on a knackered 1.4 clio 2 years ago. Think I'll get an elise, should be able to get cheaper than that that was elephant!

I have been driving for 17 years and have always paid between £430 and £550 for insurance. First car was a Fiesta 1.4S which was £550. Lowest is this year for a Ford Fusion +.

Well i suppose there has to be some perks of owning a fusion ;).

Nope, not yet.

OL16.

Where I was living before, it was BL4, and my old house where I used to live with my mum was M26.

OL* is a bad post code mate, my brother works for CIS and they wont insure OL post codes lol im in OL6 and i pay about 20% more than i should do for it!!

Yeah, judging off the sticky, OL16 is area 4a, which is about 2/3rds of the way down the scale! Thats pretty bad territory!

If you got a garage, say you keep it in a garage over night and limit the annual milage.

Could also put its for social use only, afterall, how will they know you were going to work the morning you crashed ;)

By asking where you work if you were meant to be working? By asking people that know you when you work, or how you get to work?

Bit of a co-incidence if your on the road every day at the same time, WITHOUT commuting. Don't lie to insurance companies.

My dad used to work for CIS until he was made redundant and so he made me be totally honest about my policy.

I'm not really fussed, as I'd much rather be honest about my insurance so that I can point and laugh at all the chavs on their parents insurance who don't get payouts when they crash :)

Nathan, I could park in the garage... but I'd be parking in my bedroom ;)

How old are you Simon? How many years NCB?

And can anyone just confirm that 45% discount is 3 years?

edit... Elephant just gave me a quote of £1280 TPFT :( Got it down to £1040 by adding my mum.

Your Elephant costs £700 a year to insure, with your mum as a registered keeper! :p
