Insurance is a joke!

Double check how many years ncb you have, dont assume 45% is 3, it's probably 2.

:)

Ok, will do. Thanks merlin :) 3 years comes to £668, 2 years comes to £775. I'm not fussed at paying £775, as it's half of what I was paying before.

Teledude, the only reason I was with CIS was because they were the only company who didn't want a deposit up front.

And 2k for a Rover, it could have been a 500bhp ultra modified Rover ;)

Definitely try Elephant/Admiral. They will beat the quotes you have been given, I'm pretty sure.

After getting 1 years NCB my insurance will hopefully come down £1000...which is nice.

Yep Teledude :)

Will be paying NUD in 4 quarterly deposits of around £200 if I decide to go with them.

thebrasso, the lowest quote I got with Elephant was £1000.

You ever actually ever hear about this happening though? And i dont mean it happned to a friend of a friend, this whole "omg its insurance fraud!!!" is a joke imo.

No, I can't say I have ever heard of an insurance company refusing to pay out because of that, but I'd rather not take my chances.

My dad was telling me that CIS are now allowing named drivers to earn their own NCB... but in order to be a named driver they have to be over 25 :)

Andy, did you give Elephant or Admiral a ring though? I found when I rang them they dropped my quote a fair bit by adding named drivers. I have my dad and his girlfriend on my insurance...which is handy as well. That reduced it by £200.

Some Insurers do have some very weird postcode rating. If they've had a lot of theft claims from a certain postcode though - that will put their prices up.

Luck of the draw sometimes but you have to bear in mind the majority of car and home insurance staff are glue sniffers.

I find it funny calling for quotes and hearing the BS they come out with. Then they ask me my occupation and the BS stops. Most amusing.

'Professional flirt' ? :p

Dont forget to add your parents names to your policy (provided they have had no claims in recent years of speeding convictions), although they will never drive your car, their names on your policy as named drivers will significantly decrease your premium.

EDIT: Sorry, i see that suggestion has already been made

I will point out that adding parents doesn't always work. Adds a lot to my policy no matter if I add my Mother, Father or Both.

Ive tried getting numerous quotes for cars from an old volvo to an S2000 and adding my mom/dad has always put the policy UP not DOWN :(
