Insurance mileage

I heard someone mention that the mileage you specify on insurance was just for the main driver and any additional drivers wasn't included in this. ie. if policy holder specified 3000miles a year with 2 additional drivers the car could cover 8998 miles a year 2999 for each additional driver.

Is this correct?

I always thought it was the mileage the car will cover while being driven by someone insured by that policy for the duration of the policy. So the main driver and any named drivers, but not anyone that will drive it on DOC from another policy.

It might differ from company to company though, as with anything insurance related it's always best to speak to company itself to be on the safe side.

Aye its a bit iffy, massive policy difference for a few k miles a year

This was my understanding to.

Ie you could pay for 10K miles insurance , but your dad could theoreticly drive another 5K miles on there DOC policy.

So why bother stating how many miles you will cover? If i expect to cover 8k should I just put 4k?
