Insurance? Need some help

Hi Guys,

Some insurance brainstorming if you will, and whether this quote is normal for someone of my driving experience?

Okay I want to use quinns in order to insure my new Mini when i get it, and their quote for the Mini 1.4d (group 5, same as the one I am getting) except the only difference is that it will be the new shape mini and a 1.4 Petrol.

Now am I missing something? I have had my licence nearlly 6 months, and I have over 1 years named driving experience which is part of the quote, and takes it down to 2.1k, and that will be £184 a month plus a Deposit of £462!! now the car I am driving at the moment is 2 groups above and costing me nearlly half that and just under 1k TPFT.. Although I did run it through TPFT that came out at a jolly £1,000, is it worth getting the car and insuring it third party?

But then if you write it off then don't you loose £11-13k since its new?

I lost 3.5k over 1.5yrs which is not bad considering how much some cars lose*

I could afford the Repayments.. but I would have to save a bit extra for the deposit...meaning I may have to wait a month extra.. but its just a feeling that im missing something as I insure a group six for 1500 Fully Comp..

what do you drive now? what is its worth?

Daewoo Lanos SX Saloon, 1.6 16v - About 1k - Which I guess is the reason that its so cheap...

Call it a rash change of mind, but I have decided not to persue the Mini atm, gonna wait till the end of the year once insurance drops a bit, I dont think it will work, so this thread can be locked!

Common sense prevails!

Seriously, don't get a 1.4 Mini One, you'll regret it when you find it slow and annoying, and can't get rid of it because you're in negative equity on the finance. Did you even drive one?

I'm amazed at how much they want to insure you, though. NUD will insure my new Mondeo ST TDCi (Group 13) for £1750 at the end of March (although I'll have had my licence for a year and hopefully 1 NCB).
