Insurance question does driving to university count as commuting?

Having made a couple of claims, they specifically asked what the purpose of the journey was

My university is right next to the town shopping mall so I could say I was going shopping.
But not worth risk losing cover if I said the wrong thing at the wrong time to cover myself.

I've pondered from time to time how it applies for those who's place of work changes.... how permanent is permanent?

As with most company matters, 'permanent' in this context refers to wherever you are considered to be based for administrative purposes, even if you never actually set foot at the specified location.
We have field-based engineers and inspectors, but each is still assigned a 'base office' location, which is usually the main facility within their individual areas.

What if you pop to the shops on the way home, does that make the rest of the journey domestic? Used to have these discussions when working out what mileage could be claimed for.

That said adding commuting has never made any real difference to the price so just have it as default.
