Insurance questions.

yeah im pretty sure!! ive tried directline and they were similar price to tesco. About £2100 my mums put me on her insurance for a week or so just to go to work in. My dad has said he'll pay for the insurance, so i avoid 20% something APR and get like 6% and also he'll pay 50 a month towards it.

So it ends up being more managable at about 150 a month.

well i'm only 22 (had my licence since 17) never owned a car (me a biker)

i was looking at quotes for several V6 models to compair against a mate. a Calibra V6 only came under £2k and i live in a high risk area. (east end) so something does not sound right with your quote.

That really sounds pretty damn expensive, I am 18 and pay 1200 on a 2 litre petrol turbo some insurers give ridiculously high prices, try E-car insurance

I just gave that a try, comes out a tad more expensive than my current insurance. I'll keep it in mind for renewal time though :)

Well some more questions;

Ive just had £2500 ish wired to my bank accountingz and before i insure the tipo got a few queries!

1. If i pay up front and worse comes to worse and i crash say after a month will i get my money back, and if so how much of it?

2. Is it worth me getting a small little car, cheaper insurance and selling the tipo?!

Jack

The companies you have listed are not good for young drivers - fact!

You sure about that?

At 17 Norwich Union were about half the price of all other companies for me, and then Endsleigh when I was 18 were even better than that.

Make sure you put down yourself as being a student when you run quotes.

For a first car (unless you already have it) a 1.1/1.2 is all you need, as you are likely to prang it in your first year - most young drivers do.
If you already have the Tipo, stick with it, and pay upfront, as it'll save you around £500 of charges for paying monthly.

You will not get your money back on the car if you prang it.

How much did the car cost you? If it cost sub £1k go TPFT, if more, I'd go FC.

Also, what have you set the 'excess' as? Being a young driver you should set it as something like £500+

It depends how much damage you have. If you have a small crash you the insurance would cover the other party and if you wanted yours repaired you could pay the excess and get them to do it or DIY it.

If you have a massive crash the ins will pay other part and either you let them see your car they write it off you get paid off with cars value (minues excess) and you insurance is now ended with no premium refund (know as a total loss claim). If you didnt declare it then you could get a new car and change insurance to new car (i did this with a £400 escort)

You will not get your money back on the car if you prang it.

Only if its a total loss claim
