I have an insurance quote for my Mondeo 2.5 V6 ST24 from Admiral full comp (10 month bonus accelerator) for £700.

I am 21 with 0NCB, and live in good rural area.

Before I go ahead and book it, I just wanted to make sure this sounded reasonable. I have tried lots of other insurers from the list including Bell, Direct Line, Elephant, Norwich Union, Endsleigh, CIS, Tesco, and they are all much much more.

What a strange question...

What a strange answer...

Just checking there wasn't other companies I should be checking, or that there wasn't some data I may have entered incorrectly which would lead to a higher than expected quote.

If someone with experience said that it sounded expensive then I may spend more time looking around to check there's really nothing cheaper on offer.

But you've only listed some of the insurers you have tried. Insurane is different for everyone. Try as many comanies as you can until you are sick of doing it.

£700 doesnt sound a lot for your age with that car, with 0 ncb.

Before you buy the insurance, put your parents on as named drivers. It shaved £100 off for me.

Forgot to mention that quote is with parents as named drivers.

It's weird that you can add other drivers, tick the box to say that the drive another car on a regular basis, yet still get £100+ taken off your quote. It took about £150-200 for me with Admiral. However, with some other companies it would add on about that amount.

No, i'm with churchill. Just moving to Admiral/Elephant would double my quote, with or without parents added.

thats strange, I have found admiral sillily cheaper than anyone else 3 years in a row now (with the rents added on) and thats when running quotes for LCR's elises, all sorts trying to work out what I could insure.

Its not particularly strange IMO, Admiral/Elephant, NUD, CIS, and most other insurers "young people" find to be cheap have always been stupidly expensive for me.

The Tesco/Churchill/Nationwide/Lloyds TSB etc group have always been the cheapest for me. £600~ for renewal for my LCR with 3-points is about as good as I can be bothered to search for :)

I asked Admiral about adding my parents as named drivers but the quote went up so I took them off it.

As for £700 thats a really good deal, last year when I was 19 with 2 years ncb I paid £800 for tpft with Admiral on a 1.6i Escort, so £700 for the ST24 is really good imo.

Strange enough its similar for me adding parents always pushes the price up, Direct Line are the cheapest for me.

I've talked to several people and it does seem to be really random who your best quote is with. The subtlest of detail changes vary the quotes of different insurers significantly.

I find Admiral are the best - I've used them for the last 3 years and nobody can come close, plus they are reasonable with modifications.
