Insurance Win

Yeah, no kidding! Some of the prices mentioned must be more expensive than the value of the car

To be honest, insurers aren't really insuring the car on policies like this, but rather insuring the driver against whatever damage they may cause to a Third party. The value of the car is pretty irrelevant.

£1550 on my SEAT Cordoba 1.6, 19, 0NCB, passed a few weeks ago 10 month policy with Admiral.

Can't wait till next year.

oh dear, you know that means you now have to stay with admiral on renewal dont you as other insurance companies wont honour your 10month policy ats 1NCB, you should have gone for the 12m policy

Rubbish, you get a proof of no claims letter with no reference to the fact that it was accrued with a 10 month policy.

Yup, this basically. It's based on the cost of repairing that Audi A4 you just crashed into in your 15 yr old £500 chavbox.

If you tell the new insurance company that it was a 10 month bonus accellerator then they will refuse you. If you do it the normal way and get the 1 year no claims bonus certificate, they won't be any the wiser.

Insurance fraud is fun!

OTOH, I guess if they don't ask, or state in their T&Cs that it must be a 12 month policy then you could argue it. Generally though they only check these things when you need to make a claim, then you find out your policy is invalid.

Tread carefully, that's all I'm saying.

They always send the renewal with it as a 1 year bonus.

I was just running some quotes online since my insurance needs renewing on the 11th, I decided while I was at it to give the god awful Confused.com a chance to impress and I plugged my details in to see what laughable quotes it would come back with, well the first few were a tad higher than I had been finding myself from the Admiral group but nothing too bad ...and then we have the one with Hastings Direct, £94,500 ! ...no I'm not joking, I had to read it 3 times to quite believe it to, Ninety Four Thousand Five Hundred Pounds! ...I said the car was worth £6k rofl.

Mine went like this.

Astra 1.6 estate:
1st year £1700 Named driver
2nd year £1000 in my name

Nissan Skyline R33 GTST
1st year £1900
2nd year £1500 (trade policy)
3rd year £1000 (normal policy)

Nissan Skyline R32 GTR
2nd half of 3rd Year from first skyline added £200 - So £1200

I am 23 with 3yrs no claims and 1 year on a trade policy.

Insurance win? My god, its really not.

This is why I used my parents car until I was 22.

Saying that, my next renewal is going to be horrible. 2 claims and a non fault claim in one year. :(

Why do insurance threads always turn into a contest for who got the cheapest price at the youngest age. It beats me how some people can be insured at 17 for 800 on a 1.6 when others (including me in my first year) get skanked by 1400 on a 1.2.
