Insurance written car off and buying it back?

Thanks for the info that’s what I was thinking until the guy at the garage who used to own a 220 said the diesel front bumper won’t fit which I found strange given they look exactly the same.
I noticed a few eBay sellers listing them as st220 bumper or ST Td bumper there’s actually a decent black bumper off a diesel on eBay for £240 I might try and get that.
The only one actually listed as being from an ST220 won’t drop below £300 for it.
Might try and sign up to Facebook if there’s people selling them on the marketplace?
Yeah, there is an "ST220 Enthusiasts" group on there too, a few of the members break ST mondeos too.

I got a part from a guy in Derby in the summer, he had like 7 of them he was doing stuff to. There were just parts allover his lockup.

Just had my Focus ST2 written off for this..

The bodyshop have had it for a few days to assess the repair, and have just made up a load of nonsense that there's suspension damage so it's not an economical repair, which is what I wanted (theres zero suspension damage, I MOT'd my car myself just before they took it)
I'm getting back almost what I paid for it 4 years ago after buying it back from them.
I'll chuck on another door and wing and it'll be good to go.
Happy days :D

Happy days until your insurance goes up massively :p that’s worked out well getting back what you paid years ago how much did they let you buy it back for?
My dads ST220 didn’t even get assessed they basically wrote it off over the phone then copart kept trying to book it in for towing but he’s bought it back just trying to get the parts for it now.
Just a shame the insurance don’t seem to have a clue everytime we ring them the staff don’t know if the v5 needs sending to them or not with buying it back and they don’t seem to know who should inform the dvla that it’s cat N. They said the car is still insured and don’t seem to be wanting any extra on the policy wants it’s repaired so far So doesn’t look like it will need to be re mot’d once it’s fixed

This is a quote I had the other day to renew..

Even if it goes up a £100 (Idoubt it will) it'll still be cheap.

£1500 and the write off value was £5K, I could have haggled for more but it's hardly worth the bother.
I could now sell it for £3.5k and be quids in, but I've looked after it well and it's just a commuter car, so I'll run it until it dies.

They initally wrote mine off via the pics I sent, but then wanted to inspect it and gave me a loaner whilst they did (a Corsa, Ewww).
If yours is a Cat N it won't need a fresh MOT or any sort of inspection to be back on the road.
Also, avoid Copart like the ******* plague, and for gods sake don't send the V5 to them, period!

Thanks for the info ended up getting the wing, bumper and headlight from one of the enthusiasts groups on Facebook for a lot cheaper than the rubbish for sale on eBay.

My dad is having a stressful time with the insurance considering they are one of the most well known reputable companies the staff who answer the phones sat at home don’t seem to have a clue when it comes to the job.
Still no idea if the v5 is supposed to be sent to them now they have paid out everytime we ask they don’t give us a straight answer.
Rang a few times over 2 weeks was assured the car is fully insured as normal only for him to get an email today from them saying the insurance is not valid until they get pictures of the car after repairs and a new MOT despite the fact it passed its MOT a week before the accident!
It’s a good job he didn’t drive it down to the repair centre like he planned because despite being told numerous times the policy hasn’t changed it’s now apparently uninsured!
Pictures and a new mot is abit excessive for bumper and wing damage that’s a cat N considering the engineer couldn’t be bothered to come check the car originally.
Would the 12 month insurance policy have to start all over again or does it just continue once they are satisfied it’s repaired and mot’d?

Usually would just continue, but I'm surprised they've even let it continue; usually once they settle that's the end of that policy.

Without being rude, why do you care about this V5 so much? If they ask, they ask until they do just keep on with your merry life, honestly there is no reason for them to get it, the write off marker is far more than a V5.

Oh does a policy normally end or get cancelled does it after they pay out? Wasn’t sure what the process was if it just got suspended until the car is deemed roadworthy again to drive.
In regards to the v5 it’s only because the info on various sites is confusing you always send it off and inform dvla when selling or scrapping a vehicle and I’ve seen some saying it’s supposed to be sent to the insurance if they write the car off but with us buying it back wasn’t sure so I guess we just keep hold of it.
Same with notifying the DVLA that it’s now cat N apparently that’s the insurers job too?

Usually yes, in my experience it has ended when they wrote off a car but maybe it’s different depending on insurers.
