Insurance...

Legal cover will help you and passengers recover losses from the third party ie loss of earnings and excesses in the event of a claim...

I don't have it personally on my policy however the car insurance company I work for bundle it in the policy as standard.

I thought I would just bump this for anyone in a similar position to me.

I used the google comparison website and lots of cheaper quotes came up, the cheapest being Marks and Spencers. I think it was £180 in the end for the year, fully comp, me as main driver (0 NCB) and my wife as the secondary. Legal cover and other options.
I also got a quote for our Focus and it was much cheaper than what we're currently paying.

Worth a shot for you guys anyway.

I only have a 07 Focus but going to a 99 Fiesta is a real eye opener, I'm 6"3 and the steering wheel is literally between my knees, not very comfortable, fortunately I won't have to use it much..

I tried M&S, but they couldn't touch Sainsbury's. I got them down to £190 after calling them and adding my Nectar card details.

The quotes I'm getting for insurance are in the region of £500 a year, I'm 28 now have had my license for 10 years! It seems an excessive amount especially as I put milage up to 5k a year.
The car is worth probably less than that anyway...

I know you have resolved this, but the value of the car has negligible impact on the cost of insurance at this level, insurance companies are far more concerned with the amount of damage you could cause to other people and their property which could cost them vast amounts of money.

Also very low mileage drivers are actually an increased risk. Putting the mileage up to 8-10k might have improved things, it has for me in the past.

To be honest, £180 seems like a bargain price considering you have no NCD and are still fairly young.

Always pays to shop around.

Reasonable insurance is out there, you just have to look for it, as this thread shows.

My insurance has been increased by £100, nothing changed on my application, and customer support had not idea why it had increased, so i rang other companies, and they were even worse, really gutted tbh.
