insurgency mod

Beta 2 is now under close scrutiny to make sure it's as good as we all expect (after all, we'd like to play the game too, you know...) Although everyone in the team is very busy, we've collected a few screenshots to let you know how things will look like after this massive update. In brief, here's some of what you'll get:

* New Commander Promotion System*
* New Weapon: M4A1 Assault Rifle with Front Grip (USMC)
* New Weapon: AKS74U (Insurgents)
* New Weapon: Al-Kadesiah Sniper Rifle (Insurgents)
* New Weapon: SKS Simonov Self-Loading Carbine (Insurgents)
* New Map: Ins_Samawah
* New Player Customization and Weapon's Selection Systems
* New Navigation Indicators**
* New Overhead Map

*The New Commander Promotion System gives the best player in each team the chance of becoming Commander. He will be able to accept or deny the promotion. If he doesn't accept it, the next best player will get its chance to command its team.

**The New In-game Navigation Indicators will help you a great deal in navigating through the maps, finding objectives and following your commander's orders. You can see the new system in most of the following screenshots.

First of all, we've got an image of the M4A1 assault rifle with front grip, one of the new weapons you will be able to use from now on:

As you could probably tell from the weapons animation test video we published some days ago, the charismatic AKS-74U is another of the weapons included in Beta 2. Basically a shortened and very versatile version of the AK-74 assault rifle, it is designed to be lightweight but powerful, and to be easily carried by vehicle crews, police and special operations forces. It is very effective in short to medium-range engagements. This little toy will spice up close-quarter battles and should become a favourite for corridor crawlers!

The insurgents also get a new precision weapon: the Al-Kadesiah Sniper Rifle. Here's a screenshot... keep your heads down after the update!

...and the Simonov Self-loading Carbine (SKS), a semi-automatic weapon, contemporary of the AK-47, that offers better accuracy and longer effective range than the popular assault rifle, attributes that make it an excellent all-round weapon.

Samawah is the name of the new map you will be able to enjoy. As a night map, it will require concentration from both teams to avoid being ambushed by the enemy:

The New Overhead Map will let you know where your team-mates are, as well as increase your situational awareness.

Last, but not least, here is an image of the new player customization system. You will be able to choose your appearance in-game, as well as your main weapon among several options depending on your soldier's class:

We can feel the expectation building up, and we don't want to miss this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your comments and contributions to the forums. We know you are waiting, and we would like to update you on the status of Beta 2: the development team is working with the testers on several important issues, that include many gameplay tweaks, map improvements, and bug-fixes. Our objective is to give you a game of the highest standards. As soon as the testing process is complete we will announce the exact release date.

call of duty 4 is far superior to insurgency

To me it isnt. COD4 is great fun on the consoles, but it feels like itll be too slow for PC gaming, and it lacks any tactical feel at all.

Cant wait to get my PC back up and running so i can start playing this again.

Hadn't played it in a while, this thread reminded me about it. I love this game so much. Looking forward to beta 2. I hope it's fixed some of the bugs still present in the game though such as the muzzle flashes showing through walls and players not being able to walk past each other smoothly.

Just got into Insurgency, absolutely loving it, despite how irritating it can be at times with team killers and loads of spawn campers.
But when you get a good group of players its brilliant.

The last few nights my whole flat has joined a team whilst on teamspeak and played 2-3 hours straight.

Beta 2 is out in a few days and I for one can't wait.

Been told COD4 is better by a few people now, But insurgency is free ;)

Beta was supposed to be out at the end of october, last estimate I saw was mid november so hopefully it'll improve things a bit like giving players a map
