Intel 330 180GB 4k?

Hi all,

I am installing a brand new system and I read a guide to install using:-

At the command prompt, type Diskpart, press Enter.
Type List Disk, press Enter.
Type Select Disk # (where # is the number your drive shows up as), press Enter.
Type Clean, press Enter.
Type Convert MBR, press Enter.
Type Create Partition Primary Align=4096, press Enter.
Type Format Quick FS=NTFS, press Enter.
Type Exit, press Enter.

a. Can I do this with an Intel 330 SSD in windows 7 64bit?
b. Are there any advantages / disadvantages?

it gives best read/write figures if the ssd is 4k aligned so yeah i would do that first,then set ahci in bios and install windows

If you are just installing windows to the drive then you don't have to do any of that.

Win7 will create the partition and format it with the correct 4k alignment by default. It's only older OS's that you need to do it manually for.

Windows does 1024k, I have done the 4k alignment with no problems but haven't seen a big performance difference.
