Intel 6 Core CPU w/ hyperthreading

Looking forward to these when they come out as me want one long time lol but £1000 for an Intel sample is crazy cash but some people just have to have it before everyone else so will happily pay this for it!

some ppl also just have so much money that £1000 is like 1p to you or me. If I won this weeks Euro millions to myself all £113,000,000 I would probably buy it :D

I'd buy two and comission ASUS to make a special proto board to run it. :P

EDIT: First I'd buy a life though...

Well, according to news on guru3d, it looks like it is true about Intel bringing out a lower cost version of six core "Gulftown" processor.

Intel preps just three six-core Gulftown processors

Hmmm. 3.2 vs 3.33Ghz? Wonder how much lower in cost it will be then? Somewhere between the current i7 950 and 975 so still maybe £500ish or more.

Not exactly "low cost" although at least it is lower cost :p

As someone who has had ES's in the past, i can tell you that as the recipiant, they cost £0.

Peeps are not supposed to sell them, and both Intel and AMD get very annoyed if they do come up for sale. One thing you can be shure of though, especially with Intel, the chance of them ever getting another ES is close to zero.

Just as a little sidenote, in my experience, ES's have never clocked as well as the retail chips. So always keep that in mind when looking at the results from ES clocks.

Apart from them being from earlier spins of the silicon, you could also say you would not want the cream of the crop for an engineering sample to be able to test for errors in a worst case scenario.
