Intel 80Gb G2, worth bothering going from v1.4 to 1.5 firmware?

As the title?

I don't have a spare CD/DVD to boot from so it would require me going to the shops to buy one.

Is there any differences that are worth the update?

Went and bought some DVDs and updated.

Performance is the same as it was before the update.

All i need now is for apple to support trim!

Ordering one of these for the weekend so thanks for posting ur findings.

Is it me or did OCUK put the price of these up in the last couple of days? I'm sure it was around the £163 mark...or was it on TWO?

1.4, 1.5 are software versions or something else, not the firmware version. 02HD is the most recent firmware.

Minstadave, the shipping firmware is printed on the drive's label. The currently installed firmware version can be viewed in the drive's properties in Windows via Device Manager:

2CV102HD.

sorry to jump this thread, im currently on 2HA, is there a real difference in updating to 2HD? rather annoying im not on latest as i only bought drive few weeks back from ocuk, i would have thought their new drives to be upto date!

Got my drive today and its packing date is 26 Jan so not surprising it's old firmware :eek:

any way to upgrade using USB rather than CD?

Pretty sure the most recent firmware corrects a bug that slowed the drive down over time.

This should be possible assuming you can boot from USB. You'll probably need some app that can make a USB flash drive bootable.

Mine has been sitting inside my PC for several months, so I can`t really remember exactly how it looked, but I don`t think it was too different to yours.

The back of the drives are raw untreated, unpainted, unlaqured aluminium, it will oxidise and look ugly pretty fast. I wouldnt worry about it. I didnt even look to see what the back of my drive was like
