Intel Burn - A Question

I thought I'd try out Intel Burn to work out how much I could overclock my E6750.

Stock it's 333x8. I've been running it at 370x8 and using the computer, playing Crysis etc without any problem so I'm convinced it will go higher.

Cooling is Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro - even after playing Crysis the CPU temp is 20degC with individual cores no more than 30degC.

So to start I ran Intel Burn on Low Level - passed 5 times.

So I then ran on Half Level - again passed 5 times.

So then I ran on Full Level - failed the instant I pressed 'enter' - actually after 0.188 seconds. Message says that it passed 3342744 out of 0. It then displays a load of zeros. Then Conclusion - Your PC has failed LinPack testing.

I was very suspicious of this so switched the CPU back to 333x8. Exactly, the same happens.

Frankly, I don't beleive it is failing at all - rather that Intel Burn has a bug or I'm not doing something right.

I'm running Intel Burn from windows - is that okay or should I be running it from a bootdisk - but I don't have a floppy drive.

I'm using Intel Burn 1.9

Cheers,

Nigel

There are some cases of it failing straight away at full stress, it's a known issue.

I don't have any more info than that though I'm afraid, I'm only aware of it becasue a friend has the same issue.

I get exactly the same thing with vista 32 bit.
I can only set a max of 1750mb ram for it to run with my 2x2gb sticks of corsair dominator. its a PITA!

Why not just O/C normally and stress test/game to find any instability?

My 6750 goes to 450 fsb with no issues at all, and i'm sure it could go higher.

Thanks for the replies.

Yep, as I said playing Crysis at 370 doesn't bother it.

I'm hoping to run to be able to run it at one of these to get the most out of my new 1066 memory which will be arriving soon.

400 with 1:1.25 (RAM = 1000)
v
425 with 1:1.25 (RAM = 1062.5)
v
440 with 1:1.2 (RAM = 1056)

Any of those and I'd be happy. Of coarse I can always try overclocking the RAM slightly aswell (although that is limited by the RAM ratios available on my board)

Cheers,

Nigel

Don't choose maximum in case another programme suddenly needs more memory which causes a crash. I always set it to 3200Mb which means I'll know straight away if the first figure is right or not (3.997853)
In addition the "error detection" is a trick, n means yes I want to see the errors and y means no I don't want to see the errors.

I always got that in Vista 32 bit. Never has happened in 64 bit. So its a 32 bit problem.

You can't stress you RAM/ Nb as well in 32 bit therefore, you have to use half memory option. But still, that gives a good indicator of cpu stability.
