Intel Burn Test (Stability Testing)

cool, iv put my vcore up a notch and i will let it run tonight before i go to sleep and set it so something like 99999 cycles so that its still running when i wake up and then i will check the logs to see if its 100% stable.
a good 12-18 hour run with this app should really kick things up a notch.

I don't trust this program.. prime stable for 24h+ at 3.42 on a Q6600, though just 5 tests at maximum stress with this and it fails half of them.

I've not had a crash during gaming/surfing for weeks so I'm not too bothered, but still ;o

I upped the vcore one notch and ran again for curiousity.. and they all passed, so I'll keep it at this then

Thank you, confirmed this myself. People looking for a 5 minute overclock really get on my nerves, so many variables.

My point is 10-15 minutes on this test is a good indicator. Doesn't mean a system will last 8 hours stable though.

But the point is my system is 8 hours prime95 stable and stable 24/7 running games, encoding etc but it fell over within 15 minutes with this test so not as100% stable as I thought.

However, I am pretty confident that if my system is 8 hours prime stable and everything else okay for the last few months then nothing I am going to run is going to stress my system as much as this.

Therefore, it is perfectly adequate to run this burn test for 10-15 min as a quick check of overclocking stability.

Certainly, once you have found you max overclock run this for 8 hours or prime95 for 8 hours to double check and make sure you have 100% stability.

However, chances are if you are 15 mins stable on this test, you will be 8 hours stable on prime95.

Nothing to not trust as you have just proved. It stresses your system way more than prime95 or running games.

Live with your old settings or the new vcore settings which is stable with this burn test. At least you are sure you are now 100% stable.

Why? Put your vcore down and save the plantet a little bit.

Passed the 5x test on half RAM fine on my Q6600 @ 3.2GHz (400x8) using the Intel stock cooler :p...83 degrees though

Crashes in Windows before it even starts if I try and select the full test though

Same here. Doesn't like 100% memory. I go to custom and select just a bit less than max memory if I want to give it a full test.

Well I'm paranoid that if it says its unstable, that it will crash at the most inconvenient time =x I wish I never ran it tbh xD

I do my planet saving bit already with speedstep enabled :-)

well i tested it at maximum thats number 1 and did 5 goes my cpu got upto 70 but it passed so i guess my system is stable, better that waiting 8 hours for orthos to finish

What vcore are you using?

My 8500 at 4ghz (445x9) fails 4/5 tests with vcore set at 1.375. Temps get to about 68.

hehe, this has my q6600 at 81c at the moment. trying 5 loops of test 1. :D

was 12 hours prime stable, let's see if i can pass this. :)

Damn, laptop cooling is so crap! Asus A3E with pentium M 2Ghz hit 78C, A3F with C2D T5500 hit 87C, Toshiba A110 which i put a 2Ghz CoreDuo in hit 79C and another A3F which i put a T7400 in hit 81C :D

ive got it at 1.425 but with the v/droop it runs at 1.36 and ive got mine at 425x9.5 and is stable running this programme

Is there any advantage to running 9.5 multiplier over 9?

Mine passes all 5 tests now at a vcore of 1.38 with the cpu at 445x9. It's prime stable for 4 hours so I think I'm happy with it.

I have been using this for a little while whilst trying to find my max stable oc. It's great having a programme that will tell you what's stable in 20 minutes, rather than hours of Orthos.

7s before my quad reached 75c on water...
As my kettle is broken was contemplating making a cuppa with the coolant :P
