how much has your frames per sec are you gettin with this cpu im a gamer u see and dont want to waste any spon dolics on this cpu .....if it is not any faster than *** i already have ......

You wont see any real frame rate improvements. If you dont know much about PCs, then you dont need a Quad.

that statement isnt entirely true. a lot of people know loads about pc's, and for this reason they DO NOT buy a quad, rather overclock their dual cores.

and i know plenty of nooblet adults who know jack about pc's but would benefit with a quad

That is absolute rubbish, there are people I know who do immense and critical data manipulation/analysis who know little about PCs but could bring a multicore machine to its knees easily, and use it for something which contributes to society rather than "encoding" or running Orthos or some meaningless benchmark.

Well said.

Theres not many applications that will make full use of the 4 cores.

Windows XP Pro only supports 2 cores. Most games are still only uni core. I still think its going to be a couple of years before quad core applications and windows will be more fruitful.

By that time, faster quad cores will be available cheaper.

Yeah but hes not one of these is he, he's a gamer, and he wouldnt notice any improvement spunking money on a quad over his 6600.

Uh sorry this is incorrect, XP supports only 2 physical CPU's those CPU's can have multiple cores which are supported. Even XP Home supports Quad Cores as its limited to a single physical CPU.

Look here

Windows XP Professional can support up to two processors regardless of the number of cores on the processor. Microsoft Windows XP Home supports one processor.

all i can say is WOW thanks for the replys ppl really apperciate it i think ill hold til some games start using quad cores .
