At stock speeds with stock HSF mine idles between 34-38. Might want to try and get your 52c down if you can mate :)

heat 52c Q9550

Well after some checking and so on seems to be seated well ,The odd thing is that the base on the heat sink is not getting hot what so ever ,I know this means not a lot .But look at the image how many fans i have running to try and cool this baby down all running at 1500 rpm ,To test and see if it will cool it down ,I have 3 at top sucking air out 1 at the back sucking air out 2 at front blowing air in to the case .

I have tryed all that i can think of to get this temp lower .
was thinking that it was a mobo error showing wrong temp or some thing ,Because when i got this chip i at to upgrad the bios to get the chip to work with it .
Any other idea's please .

I did see in another post on this forum that there are two kinds of this chip how true is that ,One that runs hotter then the other but this is boxed intel from overclockers not oem ? ..
here is the link to what i am talking about http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18018843&highlight=Q9550

Thank you for all replys so far .

Just done another test all this time i have been testing cpu temp with HWMonitor and was showing all ways as 52c ,

But then i read about Asus Pc prob II and thats showing as 40c.
So now i am thinking that HWMonitor is not right and that Asus is right .

What u think .

Ok tryed that and would seem that more than one bit of software is saying around 50c and probe II is showing lower so ill go with the others as they cant be more than one thats wrong ,Real temp shows all so at 50C + and prob II still saying 39c 40c at times .But when i look at other program i think that prob II is only reading core 2 not one as core 2 is lower ,Very odd so maybe i have a mobo problem and its having hard time trying to work out which is right but i would say higher one .

Just that its getting to me not knowing sad tbh to have this problem ,I am thinking about getting another mobo but i am put off bcz i may end up with the same problem .And i was read that about his chip to do with stepping E0 and C1 .C1 chip meaning they run hotter i am not sure what my one is tomorrow i will be taking out and looking and reseating the chip one last time .

Hi again i just took the heat sink out and cpu to check the numbers on it and found this really small number E4 whats that ? ..
Starting to think that V8 is crap now tbh .

Any one give me ideas of some thing better to cool this chip down .

The titan fenrir is highly rated, im running a TRUE black on mine, currently testing at 3.6ghz, load temps in p95 of 55-52-45-45.

OK try ,But the only thing i worrying about is that i may wast more money on another heat sink to find that its still same :( .

So you think this heat sink will be a lot better for me even ,as it looks like i have this stepping model .

http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAWQ

Which on another post in this forum there saying runs hotter . i really dont no

I've got the same chip as yourself with the same stepping on it. When I had the boxed fan with it the temps were around 30 degrees idle but I upgraded my heatsink to a noctua which reduced them. I've now overclocked to 3.6ghz although its not as stable as it could be the load temps are nothing more than mid 50s

I confused which chip will run higher the 0E or C1 ? ..
As from what i'm reading sounds like the C1 chip runs hotter thats what i have .Your getting 30 on stock fan omg .

And your clocking it on stock fan all so .This is making me more upset to think that i cant ge it any lower then 50c idle ,I have tool it out the pc now 5 times to reseat it and i know its not there as i am not new to pc building .and no how to seat the chips .I have tryed 3 compounds starting with the one that came with the V8 and then moved to the Arctic Cooling MX-2 and now on Arctic Silver 5 and all having same temps .Its very odd from what i can tel .

I just dont no what to do about it any more .

I bet if i was to put my e6600 back in the temps would be low .But for the Q9550 well crazy chip .All at stock 2.8

C1 is the older stepping, EO is the newer version, most C1's ive seen do 3.8ghz easily, my EO has only been pushed to 3.6ghz so far (8.5x425) maybe runs a bit cooler than a C1 chip.

with the crappy intel fan I was getting idle temps of around 30 ish. But I've replaced that with the noctua cooler in this topic http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17991670

Daft question but do you still have your intel fan? Try mounting that instead of the v8 and see if that makes a difference to your temps at all. I know that wont help the fact you've 'upgraded' to the v8 cooler but it may help to identify where the problem is lying.

Just a question: Will Arctic Freezer 7 go on this CPU ok - with a P5Q Deluxe?

Cheers

there shouldn't be a problem since its LGA 775 compatible. One thing i would say is that the airflow isn't huge at 28cfm. are you looking to overclock or just keep things at stock speeds on your cpu?

I am looking to overclock but only to around 3.2GHz. I have a C2D 65 Nm E6600 at 3.2 and have no heat issues at present. My case is very good at dissipating heat.
