Intel Core i5-11400 “Rocket Lake-S” CPU is 34% faster than predecessor in single-core benchmark

Err, let's take a look at the performance results.
The six-core Rocket Lake is still slower than Vermeer Zen 3 six-core.

So, what exactly should we look at?

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6C/12T @ 4.6 GHz 1606 8102
Intel Core i5-11600K 6C/12T @ 4.9 GHz 1565 6220
Intel Core i5-11500 6C/12T @ 4.6 GHz 1563 7349
Intel Core i5-11400 6C/12T @ 4.4 GHz 1495 6620

Where to start. You seem to be threatened by this news, why? Competition is good for all of us.

Lets take a a look at the facts:

1. 11400K running with crippled 2100 Memory. 5600X you compare it to probably running 3600Mhz memory, not a fair comparison
2. Price. 5600x = £349..... 10400k = £150. Lets be crazy and say the 11400k will increase prices by £50 to £200, it's still MUCH better value than the paper lunched Zen3 chip
3. AVX-512 - bonus feature on the Intel part, which will no doubt do well going forwards are more developers are paid/encouraged to use it.

I am afraid it won't be enough for Intel - AMD can decrease its pricing.
Intel should more aggressively step up and offer an eight-core as Core i5. Or a six-core as Core i3.

AMD can't produce enough to meet demand now - they have little to no scope to reduce pricing.

Read up on supply & demand, if there's not enough supply and demand is high, prices increase.

Also, TSMC increased their prices recently, forcing AMD to pay more per wafer. This will already affect their margins.

10400K is one of the best selling CPU's these days for a reason - plentiful supply, cheap (£150!) and stable.

they still have a 70% market share

just because lots off people shout AMD on forums doesnt make it the best seller

personaly will use which ever is the best performance per ££ in a couple of weeks

under £130 now from mulitiple sources

your comparing a £330 chip vs a £130 chip apples and oranges

but thats £130 chip for 1080p gaming is amazing for the price and will perform on a level with a r3600 while gaming

Now what I have found is the people who like to willy waggle about speed run the odd synthetic benchmark and spend the rest of the time on yourtube or browsing the net

and never even come close to using the cpu they have before they swap it out because of percieved its old tech syndrome

The 5600X is heavily overpriced. Because of lack of real competition.

1080p requires fast CPUs. At 4K you won't notice much of a difference because the load shifts to the GPU - the GPU gets overloaded while the CPU has time to execute the assigned processes.

This is the CPU I am really looking forward too, building so many systems with with the 10400f which has been down to to levels only the 1600AF/2600 were in the £108-120 region. The 11400f with unlocked memory on the cheaper boards should make it a very compelling value segment part, and give no reason to go with anything higher unless they disable MCE/forced all-core boosting.

It will also make an utter mockery of Intel if they try and price their higher end CPU's like the 11600K at £250+, since it will offer no extra performance, much like the 2600/2600X etc.

However Ryan, no they won't be beasts for gaming, they will offer good value, but will still likely be beaten by the higher end AMD/Intel parts.

Yeah amd stills needs to put out an entry non x Ryzen 5000

Out of interest when did the 5600x go up in price, it was £280 for ages and I managed to even get 10% off mine with an available voucher from a very big retailer pretty easily. I just checked myself and its its gone bonkers! Such a massive price hike, surely AMD haven't put the RRP up its more the retailers no ?

it could be worse in America they have no stock and scalpers are buying up available stock and reselling

cheapest I can find one today is £349 from a seller I would trust last week it was £319

I mean... it looks like absolute performance is about equal to Zen 3 at full tilt. Which is a gain for Intel, well done. But it's not exactly earth shattering stuff?
