Intel Core i5-2550K is in the works

This will come in around £195 for the retail version i suppose, unless the 2500k keeps on rising in price which would put it over £200 and getting close to 2600k prices.

I don't see the point when the 2500K overclocks miles beyond this?

same reason I thought that for one to purchase a 2700K one must be missing some brain cells, as there is almost no incentive to do so, yet they still sell! also since all the Intel users seem to say 'won't notice any difference over X clock...', the argument falls ever more flat. so +1 to your post sir! ;)

Not all people maybe know how to or want to overclock their CPU, so buying a slightly faster base CPU is what some people would rather get.

If they don't want to overclock their CPU then they won't by a 2xx0k series unlocked one. (exception being if they really need the better in built graphics)
