I've not upgraded for a long time and I'm currently considering a Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 board and the Intel i5 cpus, but see they now have integrated graphics!
Can this feature be disabled easily? I have a ATI 5850 so don't want any potential conflicts.

Cheers.

If you buy a P67 motherboard you can't use the integrated graphics anyway.

If you want to overclock you need to buy a 2500K or 2600K processor and a P67 motherboard. The "K" is the important part.

Thanks for the info, not into overclocking.

Just ordered;
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 Socket 1155 Motherboard
Core i5 2500 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600mhz Ripjaws Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V

Should keep me going a few years. :D

Change your order.

Assuming you've ordered from OCUK then the retail 2500K is only £4 more than the retail 2500. For the extra £4 you get:

- the ability to overclock if you want to (dead easy on Sandybridge)
- better saleability/price in the future
- a free copy of Shogun 2

You'd be mad not to do it .

Thanks, but already have Shogun 2 and didn't buy from OCUK.

Yes it will but if your not overclocking then you could have saved a bit more money and bought a H67 chipset motherboard.

To have purchased a P67 chipset board and then put in a non 'K' processor really is a bad decision I think.

Does upping the multipler not need more volts also

Has anyone actually used these onboard or is it oncpu graphics to play a game, I presume its good for minesweep only

Sry to hijack thread but MrEmulator, could you forward me to where you have any logs on that awesome sg05 watercooled you have made? Its seriously awesome.

+1

Though I personally would have paid the bit extra for the 'K' processor, even if you didn't order off OCUK.
Too late now though I guess, should have waited to order until more people replied, that's what I would have done =]

I use a K processor that is not overclocked. Powerful as it is but if I need a bit more beans it's there and will be easier to sell when that time comes..
