Intel CPU and Wall E

What impressed me most was learning a few months ago that the majority of special effects, animation etc for these types of films (and others such as Harry Potter, Spiderman etc) were done 100% on Linux. You know, being useless and hard to use as it is hehe ;)

Don't really see why using Intel CPUs is impressive in any way.

What's impressive is the skill of the artists and animators and the software they use to render the film. The processors used are incidental and just grunt to get the work done - pretty much anything will do the job.

I think the OP was implying that he was impressed at the fact they're using good CPUs

I said "impressed" because I thought they use some kind of super uber chips specially made for these studios, not the ones we use everyday in our PCs!!!

Remember with Final Fantasy, they started rendering that but newer, faster CPUs came out and they had to recode and use the newer CPUs then newer CPUs came out so they have to recode and tart over for the newer CPU... I think they did this 7 times in total and it took 4 years to render the film in the end ( or something as silly as )
