Intel CPU supply constraint worse than we think?

At a recent supplier meeting it was stated that all the tier 1 partners (HP, Dell, etc.) are completely protected from supply constraints and have guaranteed stock. They are currently selling record numbers of Intel systems, mostly driven by corporate upgrades to Windows 10. Due to this protection and ready supply, they are not seeing businesses switch from Intel to AMD. Intel obviously have a finite capacity and so it is the smaller resellers and enthusiast market which suffers.
You have to factor in that many places will only buy Intel-based systems, and even specify in tenders that the CPU must be Intel. AMD just don't have a hope of getting in many places because they are seen as "knock-offs" by the people who draw up the tenders. Or "not enterprise grade", for servers or workstations. Would be interested to know if any govt/local govt have used AMD chips, because the likelihood is not many.

e: Some of it is simple risk aversion. "We've always used Intel. They work."

To be fair OcUK has had 9900K in stock since day and we've never once run out, all of our competitors have, but not here, I forecasted stock very well with Intel and thus have kept my shelfs well stocked to the point were now supplying some competitors with stock. :)

That's fair and all but not what potential buyers of 8700k want to see like myself. The price on them went up by £10 overnight. I understand why it's to drive sales of 9th gen. It's business practice but was hoping to save some cash.

If you have had thousands in stock and never ran out and your prices are still high, then I imagine you've probably bought them high and cant sell for that much less due to your purchase price.

Your retaial is still £100 more than the US delivered and after all taxes paid. I'm happy to support OCUK, drop it to a more reasonable £500 and Id cancel my order and buy from you instantly.

We are £539.99, our UK price is competitive and whether we paid £1 or £1000 for them is irrelevant.
Sales are absolutely insane, 100+ a day so our price is clearly competitive in UK market which is all that concerns us. :)

Well, you clearly adjust prices compared to the $ and how much the price of the £ is against it. That's supply costs. So its a little strange you now say they are irrelevant.

£539 is OEM. Your retail is £570, I ordered mine for £470. Yes you're selling but there's still people like me that are not buying due to inflated UK prices.

You paid £470 a month ago, but you still don't have it, I am sure it will arrive at somepoint.......
Meanwhile at OcUK were selling thousands and customers are getting next day delivery and some have now been enjoying their processor for a month, even some customers who are based in USA, so it says something when we have US based customers buying from us. :)

Anyway, I'm jealous of your stock. :)
