Intel CPU - which are Penryn?

From chatting it appears that the new Core 2 Duo's that are the "penryn" type[e are the ones to go for.

from looking at wikipedia the following coming out in early Jan are definately penryn

Core 2 Duo T8100
Core 2 Duo T8300
Core 2 Duo T9300
Core 2 Duo T9500

However it is unclear whether the following chips are Penryn as they are not stated as being - however are Socket P

Core 2 Duo T7500
Core 2 Duo T7700
Core 2 Duo T7800

Anyone know?

Is there likely to be a large difference between the current T7500-T7800 in comparison to the T8100+?

Or is it presently unknown?
 
Really does depend what you use it for. I've got a Vostro 1500 with a T7500 and 2Gb RAM, and its blindingly quick. I thought it would be fast but it exceeded even my high expectations.

There's no doubt that the Quads will be faster than the Duos, but I think you'll only see the difference if you run a lot of CPU intensive apps, such as 3D modelling, encoding etc.

Of course these CPUs aren't out yet so they haven't been tested, these are just my initial feelings, and the main reason I bought this laptop now with the Duo T7500 instead of waiting a few months until Penryn makes it into laptops.

The mobile penryns are launched on Jan 6 2008. So hopefully we will not have to wait too long.

They aren't quad core just a different architecture and with the 45nm should consume less power.

Good to hear that the 7500 is quick! I was either going to get the lowest penryn, or the T7800 assuming that it goes down in price once the penryn is launched.
