No, no where near similar. "Cell" is a heap of crap and a nightmare to write software for whereas this sort of chip design shows real potential.

Plus Sony are only getting a 30% success rate with the chip which means that its a nightmare and having major losses up to the stage now where they are thinking about putting the faulty chips in washing machines, can you imagine having one of them washing your clothes? :)

Can't MS release an o/s based on the 96-bit VLIW architecture.

Then we could start slapping these babies in our pc's. It's a shame they have to modify it to work with x86 if that instruction set means the chip will be bigger / slower.

Would Linux work with it... humm... :D
