Will Intel blow the GPU market wide open or will they just price accordingly with Nvidia and AMD?

Curious to see what happens with prices when Intel gets cards that can compete with the other two.

It's not if but when as they will compete given enough time time.

Hopefully it's good news for us but I won't hold my breath.

Knowing Intel they will initially price their GPU's online with the competition and will rely on their brand name to justify it's price. But as @andicole0 points out above miners will have the final say (or maybe not given the drop in crypto prices recently).

When you say "blow the GPU market wide open", do you mean cheap? AMD already tried that. They became known as the budget brand which did them no favours. The majority chooses the expensive Nvidia every time. That's what GPU competitors get in return for doing us a flavour.

comes down to price and availability i guess im not getting too excited at the moment tho

It's late in this cycle to be releasing a new range of GPUs. I think there'll be some curiosity and a few purchases, and many people hoping it will help to lower prices overall.

Quick question, as ive not really come across this news before. Is the idea when these intel chips are on shelves, that they will compete with nvidia and radeon? ie, say i want a new graphics card (when these are out) instead of choosing a decent radeon or decent nvidia card, ill also get the choice of a decent Intel card? (I know "decent" is subjective, but what im asking basically is, when all 3 makers are in production, ill have a choice of 3 makers cards instead of 2?)

When they eventually come out you will have options but the thing is Intel's discreate graphics cards are an unknown quantity when it comes to things we take for granted like driver and software support. IMO the only people who should be buying Intel initial batch of mid range GPU's are early adaptors/tech enthusiasts who just want to see what Intel has produced and what it can do and people who simple can't get a hold of a mid-range GPU for sensible money (although things are now slowly changing in that regards) and really need something to complete their builds and are willing to put up with the odd crash or incompatibility issue now and again.

yes thats exactly what I mean.

it's not going to happen right now because of the chip shortage so prices will stay high regardles.

But what about in a year or two when things are back to normal.

My hope is a price war starts, a third player can change things for the consumers benefit.

Intel is a big name and has a huge following, when it starts to eat into Nvidia and AMD's bottom line they need to counter it, hopefully thats with a downward spiral on prices.
