Hi All,

Does anyone know if the rumored i9 six core will be a 1366 socket or will Intel roll out yet another socket this year?

I'm trying to make my mind up if I should buy a x58 board or wait until after Xmas and see what's coming out then.

If you were definitely going to go for i9, and don't really need a new computer now, I'd wait. I don't know how long it'll be, but there should be some boards out soon with USB3 and PCI-E 3.0. I would have thought those and i9 would be released around the same time, so it might be worth waiting, rather than spending a load of money now and upgrading later.

Remember i7 / i9 will be Intel's HIGH end hardware. They will probably brand it Extreme Edition, and it will therefore probably cost £700+

Good speculation? ;)

That's a pretty safe bet. The top processors are generally released as EE, and Intel typically charge $1000 a piece for them. By the time the "rip-off Britain" factor and tax are added, it'll no doubt be over £700.
