Intel Kaby Lake X Core i7-7740K And X299

Comer on Scone thats a bit of a tired straw grab mate? even you know X99 was not "Flawless" from the get go? so AMD arent allowed teething issues but Intel are? heh, your probably the same person who thinks their Optane garbage is all that too...

Fact is Skylake-X at the current rumors has no place on the market, infact id go as far to say that Intel are so out of touch with reality and so up themselves, they probably still believe they can even now churn out the usual dross and the sheep will come to graze, they probably arent wrong for the die hards, but AMD has shown you can have a great all rounder at insanely good prices...

Edited to Add, also that AM4 is the mainstream platform, Ryzen is the mainstream for AMD Now, to replace faildozer and the like...

AMD's X99 equivalent is in the works and early reports show a really good performance, and thats not even the stuff aimed at high end server markets.

AMD are in a huge rush to get X399 out before Intel, when their current platform has huge teething issues. That tells you all you need to know about their current agenda. Platform development cycles are usually 6 to 9 months. This one is looking to be around 3, which is ridiculous. It puts a huge workload on motherboard vendors and the people involved.

AM4 gives users the chance to opt in, but it's priced aggressively for good reason. Skylake-X place on the market will be the same as X99, if you think it offers something over Intel's platform other than the entry price, you haven't used both to a long enough extent or at all.

That is frankly just how things are. The upshot is it gives something new to play with, and it's an upgrade path for less - but certainly not more for it.

Right, as per usual you believe AMD did zero work on server platform while working on AM4, well done. Complete and utter nonsense as usual from you.

AMD have been sampling and testing server parts to companies for a year, but they only started working on SP3 right after AM4 launched in your world because that is how things work. Right up till the end of Feb, AMD had no idea that SP3 was going to exist, they literally started work on that on the 4th of March when AM4 was finally released.... lol.

As for not more for it, x399 is looking to come with 16 cores, Skylake-X will max out at 12 cores... sure, there is nothing extra x399 will bring over Intel.

Sorry to stop you there, but we're not talking about the server market. Whatever you think may have been under testing for a year as far as X399 goes, it hasn't. Not even close.

Plus also, don't want to get into another back and forth with you if it's going to end up like the one with the benefits of board design and memory overclocking lol

You may as well give up, you are arguing with a guy that had an early ryzen sample......

On release day.... He has inside knowledge

But this is Overclockers, it isn't neccessarily for laymen. And it makes a nice change for the epeen waving to be done by the AMD brigade, welcome back AMD.
As soon as I see what cash I've got left after my house extension/refurb , I'll be looking to buy Ryzen. Feels good, I haven't had an AMD since my 3700 San Diego.

Nah your right overclockers is not necessarily for the laymen although the laymen by far makes up the majority. I don't really see AMD having nothing to be waving anything about but I agree it is nice to be able to Consider them again.

Even though I could buy what ever Intel best has to offer I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Ryzen for me next too at some point.
