Intel launches Core-X series with up to 18-cores for 1999 USD

Yes and No, how many people watching/viewing these reviews will actually buy the product. For the HEDT stuff i think less than 35% of viewers will be buying into that platform. Mainstream probably around 70% but i think most of them will be buying on day 1. So while i do agree with you, i think the gain in viewership from informed consumers that are reading up on what they are about to buy isn't going to be high enough to offset the loss.

Out of curiosity, which sites have been doing detailed reviews?

fair enough i guess the main hedt people meaning large scale purchasing professionals will just splurge money on what works best with the software/systems they already use, not sure if people get stuck in contracts leasing or the like. so they wont make up much of a viewership at all. i was talking more people who are either home users or small businesses looking at 1 or maybe 2 hedt units max. they will be a bit more frugal and probably read and view anything and everything to make sure they get the best bang for their buck.

as for sites/tubers id say the larger ones seem to be making an effort in doing follow up's or more drawn out reviews rather than dropping day one stuff and leaving it. jays2cent, and gamers nexus being the ones iv experienced the most, on a down side someone on here mentioned pcper being a bit too pro intel so caught one of their podcasts from last week after x299 and te i9's where announced at at one point they where trying to apologise and explain away the 2 kaby lakes as a entry level cpu for x299 the more i watched the more i wanted to hurl some words of wisdom at them via twitter.

again just my opinion, still feel tech tubers who do get a lot of kit to play with on loan for a few months need to figure out if they will do full long term tests or just do the same old same without really pointing out the long term issues of the systems. il keep saying it but i guess we will get a better view come e3 and now people are getting x299 stuff to review we may get more open discussion about where the x299 platform sits and if intels dropped a hairy manfruit on this. and if threadripper is anywhere near what we expect i cant see anyone recommending it over the I9's as even with few cores its looking like again it will be half the price top cpu v top cpu.

After reading your post i just realised that with large companies its one(ish) main person that makes the decisions. For the small business, your are correct most of them, should hopefully, be looking at review before buying.

Not sure how long term reviews would work out. I've seen it done on mountain bike reviews and it works really well. For hardware is there much you could get from that?

i guess more for new platforms am4/ryzen hasn't had the best start but is now running ok and with the beta bios's that are floating around it seems to be closing down on intel, and with more promised im sure comparing month 1 launch with say 6 months down the line will be vastly different. similar things have happened on most new platform launches and graphics cards with driver improvement and games patches but not to this extent, as someone posted on one thread the current updated bios's mean they have gone from 2133 to 3000 which has given them a 15% rise in fps not sure what game or whatever but thats off a beta bios. so imagine when its release and what may come in another month or two. could be looking at a 20% increase over launch performance which is a fair ole gain.

also as software gets patched things will change, i know theres issues with virtual machines on ryzen atm but amd is working on stuff as are vm software vendors so thats bound to change also.
