Intel or amd ?

GB has a good 3 year uk based warranty service.

If you are happy with Asus stuff then

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus Z77 Sabertooth Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £169.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £167.99
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £25.99
Total : £375.37 (includes shipping : £9.50).

This is technically very much Overkill. However it does have twin HDMI onboard ouput, digital optical audio output connectors, SLI/Xfire compatible etc etc. There is also the styling to consider.

I think you would probably be just as happy with the entry level Z77-D3H I used earlier though, your PSU isn't really SLI capable for gaming GPUs, so losing Xfire and SLi wont hurt you. The D3H still has the optical audio output which is nice too for a "cheap" mobo, which the MSI budget Z77 mobos also happen to lack ;)

So the gigabyte board that honosuseri posted is a good board for a overclock if needed and reliable yeh ? Just want to make sure this build is right if ya know what I mean

Yes mate, it's a great mobo, even overclocks quite well too despite only using a 4pin aux power connector. The only real issue is a BIOS update is wise to do before adding a GPU to it.

I dont expect you to buy the Asus Sabertooth. It was just to help you compare tech and see the difference in price. As I said the GB D3H has plenty of good features and connections. I think size wise you might aswell go ATX as the case has the expansion brackets to tailor to it.

Just reading some reviews on the D3H and it looks like a very good board for entry level which is all I need tbh . Won't be looking along sli or xfire as wont be gaming that much ( Xbox fanatic :( ) but I still have a steam account with some games I would like to play again . What gfx cards are good that I could also look at buying ? I'm guessing nvidia are still market leaders ??

Thanks for all the help :)

I have a Nvidia 460 in my HTPC (CPU and GPU overclocked) and it basically murders the Xbox 360. So one of those cheap 2nd hand maybe would be good, you get cuda support as well with nvidia which plenty of software suites make use of.

The 2GB 7850 or a 660 is the minimum I would use now buying retail, these have great bang for buck. You could have next gen console graphics now rather than later ;)

All this sounds great to me honosuseri but I have one concern and that is heat ! My zalman case is a snug fit in my tv cabinet and the last thing I want to do is kill my system with heat :( . The case itself has very little airflow and it won't receive much when it is in place which was the main reason for looking at the amd route .

However hi definition is a must !
