~ £65, dual core hyper threaded Kaby Lake. But can it game?

Intel G4560 + GTX 1050 Ti - 1080p Ultra Gaming Benchmarks

Will The Pentium G4560 Bottleneck The GTX 1060 6gb?

Happy with this lil chip, baffled by it's performance. It's great in desktop and gaming. No reason at all to look at the i3's anymore. Especially with the current Kaby Lake i3 pricing.

Def the bang for buck king, all hail the king baby xD

Bought one of these the other day just before they sold out (as I thought they would). Going to install either tonight or tomorrow, will be a nice upgrade from my athlon ii

Lucky you got one early, these are really popular it seems. Sold out everywhere.

Will be huge upgrade from your current chip. Such a bargain lol.

I can use XMP 2400 DDR4 speed with this Pentium xD. I was limited to 2133 with the 6700K and H170M , but the Pentium + H170M allows you to use XMP profiles regardless.

I'm looking at the below, I have everything else I just want to switch the mobo/cpu/ram:

Total: £293.93

Thoughts/comments?

Any components to replace?

Also - the plan with this is that I'd swap out the G4560 for a 7700k in the future

Why such a high end mobo? The CPU is locked. Could save a lot of money on a lower tier mobo?

Yeah the idea is I want the future proof it slightly which is why I've also gone for faster ram as well

Yeah def a great chip for a build, can be easily swapped out for something high end later on. All I would need to do is add a 7700K and make it a monster gaming PC again. Tbh am perfectly happy with this lil Pentium for time being xD

If the 7700K dropped to a reasonable price I might consider it.

Wow that's a seriously interesting comparison video, not just for seeing how the G4560 compares to i3 5 and 7, but for which games are CPU intensive and whether to put more ££ towards GPU or CPU.

Almost the most interesting thing was that the G4560 gave a better experience using the 1060 than the 1080, because there was less fluctuation in FPS.

And very encouraging that the average MINIMUM frame rate among only CPU intensive games at 1440p was 40 FPS for the G4560 compared to 47 FPS on the i7-6700k.
So unless you are going to buy a 1080, the G4560 offers astonishingly good performance pound for pound.

As said above, a shame he didn't test a 1070 but you can't have it all.
I might be off to buy a GTX 1060 and a 1440p monitor...

Yeah was a good video, seems for budget builders a Pentium kaby lake + GTX 1050 Ti / RX 470 is the sweet spot.

Interesting though that even with higher end GPU the Pentium still puts out a good showing just with lower minimums. Really is a great CPU for the money.

I love my lil Pentium xD runs great with GTX 780. Gonna hang onto this for a while me thinks. See where the CPU landscape is after Ryzen launches.

The G4560 and RX 480 would make a great combo then? I have an i5 7500 as a backup plan on my build list, but this little Pentium could save me some pennies.

Will be fine, honestly I'm running all my games at 1080P / 1440P using this Pentium and a GTX 780.

This is the best value chip in a long long time, might as well take advantage of that now. Then in the future, maybe next couple years go for a big upgrade. Second wave of Zen or Intel's then latest etc.

What is happening in here lol.

Can speak from first hand experience, having run the all the hardware you can think of.

This chip is absolutely capable of great gaming experience. I run all my games at 1080P / 1440P with this chip and a GTX 780. Not targeting 30fps either xD

It's an absolute bargain. Paired with a GTX 1060 or maybe an older used GPU with similar performance, and you get massive bang for your buck.

As someone that changes hardware almost weekly :p, this lil chip is still in my main PC. I may just keep hold of this thing up until the next line of Pentiums :p, or AMD's 'Zen alternative. The high end is so predictable, boring for me now, that I get more fun playing around with this lil bargain chip. That's how boring the current CPU space is lol. Hopefully AMD can shake things up a bit soon.. Make me wanna go high end again.

Might be replacing this stop gap chip very soon, got a good deal on a 7700K, not sure whether to go for that or a Zen chip. The 7700K wouldn't require new mobo etc... Can't decide xD
