I noticed a 5.1ghz binned for a ridiculous price on OCUK. a few hundred extra for 2% more? and most of the time you won't even notice that 2%.

Lol i3 8100 nearing £150.
Is it intel that is increasing the price, or is it the resellers responding supply and demand?
Sadly, Tom’s Hardware has observed the availability of Intel’s flagship processors, such as the i7-8700K become scarce, while the remaining 8th generation listings rise distinctly above MSRP. Intel’s i7-8700 has seen the biggest jump in cost from $303 to approximately $340, while the lower-end i5-8400, -8500 and -8600 sit around $20 greater than their launch price.

Retailer has the 8700k on preorder for 300£

Hints? The ridiculous price gouging across the whole PC market is really getting on my **** right now. Wanted all new rig before end of year but apart from possible "normal" prices come black Friday it's becoming impossible to get excited about bothering with it these days.
P.s. it's ok I found it
My thoughts exactly. I don’t just want to upgrade before end of year, I need to.
Can’t be bothered waiting till 9000 arrives but if the 9700k is the same price as the 8700k which is a current rumour then 8700k should drop a bit? Who knows. Like you I’m getting fed up with it.
Just don’t want to buy and then find some ridiculous sale price somewhere in Nov/Dec.
P.S. Did you find it in the rain forest
Agree with you.The problem is the market loves people like you - those who "need to buy". As it leaves little incentive for retailers to lower prices when people are still happy to buy at inflated prices.
I'm looking to upgrade my ~8-9 year old rig. I'd be happy with 8th gen over 9th gen if the prices reflect that it's an older chip. But there's no way I'm overpaying for it, I would rather then spend a little bit more for 9th gen.
We're all fed up with with the price gouging, but it's ultimately the consumers fault that retailers are doing it and getting away with it. Vote with your wallet people.
