Intel pulls ATI bus licence

Intel gives its chipset partners inside information about its plans and hardware internals (even those that aren't on its roadmap yet) so it's hardly surprising they've terminated the contract with ATi following their acquisition by AMD.

Nvidia will stil make Nforce for AMD & Intel
No more Intel crossfire though

Yep, the near future looks very promising for amd.

No suprise about the news . Just a matter of time really.

i think intel will still make xfire compativle chipsets, to exclude half of the high gfx market would not be a good more i think

Isnt the main requirement for SLI, and Crossfire, the fact that the motherboard has 2 PCI-e 16 slots, with at least 8 lanes per slot? Kinda thought that had been proved by the hacked Nvidia drivers that enable SLI on the intel chipsets. Its purely a 'software block'

I find it unlikely that AMD/ATi would rewrite their drivers to block Crossfire on the i975 chipset board, as that would upset people who already have crossfire setups. So any 'future' i975 board should remain crossfire compatible anyway.

After that who knows, but if Conroe gets into the high end enthusiasts market, would AMD/ATi really cut off the biggest 'potential' sales area for crossfire. That would only result in intel making peace with Nvidia, and getting the driver block on SLI on the 975X (or future chipsets) removed.

couldn't ATI stop them doing that though, same way intel stopped ATI making them chipsets

I find it very unlikely that ATI would exclude 80% of the market from using xfire setups with intel CPUs

Good point

Intel: ATI Bus License Still Go

Shock horror, The Inquirer was wrong and retracts its article!

What a joke. The Inquirer are responsible for dumping so much crap on the internet. They say one thing and then on the next day they get corrected by reputable sites, which leads them posting another article saying they wrong. It's like they pwn themselves! :D
At least they do retract them when proved wrong...which is more than I can say for a lot of 'mainstream' media outlets...
