Intel Q6600 GO Stepping - Our best price yet!

Good price, shame I would need a new Mobo and cooler. Should I blast my new Egg CC?

Shame I couldn't hold out just a touch longer as I paid £175 odd for my B3 Q6600 about two weeks ago :/

Still thats the way of things and tbh I don't care as it's the same chip and mines sat at 3.33Ghz quite happily !

i've ordered one, but i've only just realised i wont beable to just chuck it in and have it work, i'm using a P965 DS4 board @ buss speed 442mhz..... from what i read the quad will fail horibly at that speed, whats a good starting point?

(currently on E6300, 442x7=3100, rated fsb 1768mhz, cvolt 1.31)

Depends on what speed you want the quad at, if its the same well you would only need to have the bus speed at 344x9 as the Q6600 default multi is x9.

At 400 which should be attainable on your 965 DS4 you would reach 3.6Ghz providing you have adequate cooling. If your motherboard can take it then Quads are quiet happy with high fsb speeds, up to and over 500Mhz isn't uncommon on high end hardware.

i agree with the guy who says better things will come, but i dont think in 1-2 months.. more like around feb-march next year, much faster quads will be available and when its needed.. quad core aint needed yet imo since hardly anything uses it apart from encoding videos

You missed the most vital need yet, a humongous boost to the ego :D

About £155 too much at the mo for me. :p

ditto, i cant justify it at the moment, my e2160 plays well at 3ghz and i cant see me using 4 cores in the near future, browsing the net and the occasional hour playing stalker, bioshock etc... aint to intensive...

plus my OEM vista wont transfer to a new mobo... which i would need too

My ego is measured by the notches on my bedpost. I use my PC for playing games a surfing.

love the quote m8
