Intel RST woes

Hi again!

So I got my earlier booting issues sorted and decided its time to give intels SRT a whirl...

Installed all the drivers etc...

Open up the RST program, no accelerate tab, had a look turns out I need to be in RAID mode, popped into the bios (latest revision) set SATA mode to RAID, now I just get a BSOD as soon as the windows splash comes up...

I get the feeling as usual I'm missing something completely obvious, but its been a long day so I'm here asking kindly for some help.

Edit: From what I understand from the guides I've been looking at I have to install Windows in RAID mode, but these all focus on caching the OS drive, I want to cache a storage drive with my games on, OS is on another SSD.

im not 100% sure on this but i think you still have to set to raid and choose your storage hdd to cache/accelerate,you can do a reg tweak that lets you install the raid drivers then reboot, dont reboot without installing the raid drivers after doing the reg tweak or else it will mess up your os again

you can always switch back to ahci if raid doesnt let you use caching

to use caching you have to set to raid

just select your storage hdd instead of the os ssd to cache

So when I enter raid options on boot (Ctrl+I) I just select the mechanical drive? Should I presume that with RAID enabled and no drives selected this is causing my BSOD?

As when I last looked it asked to select a minimum of 2 drives.

Currently when I open RST there is no 'accelerate' tab, as I presume enabling RAID would cure this?

Edit: Just found this, speaks of BSOD's spawning from installing windows in AHCI mode and how to fix it!

yes,but if you installed windows without setting to raid first you need to look at the guide i posted, that will allow you to install the raid drivers without a reinstall, then you should be able to select your storage hdd to accelerate with your ssd,the ssd with the os should be unaffected

again i havnt done this, ive done caching with the os and a hdd and done the reg tweak but not cached a storage hdd

Ok will give everything a whirl just now and report back.

Thanks for the help over the last few days wazza, appreciated.

That worked a treat wazza, changed that parameter in regedit, rebooted in RAID (no BSOD now) and RST picks everything up, just running some benches to make sure its caching properly, thanks again for the help bud :)

Edit: Mechanical drive reporting 300mb/s read and 75mb/s write speeds now :D

intel smart responce is a great feature foir those of us that cant afford the big ssd prices :)
