Hi all,

My rig currently has an OCZ Agility 3 SSD as the boot, OS and important apps drive, with a 2TB data HDD for games etc etc.

I am considering adding a 64GB SSD to use as a SRT cache for the 2TB drive but this requires I switch the Sata controller to Raid and I've read that this will disable trim across the controller, therefore disabling trim on my boot SSD too.

Can somebody confirm my thinking is correct, or will TRIM still be active on my boot SSD?

TRIM currently doesn't work for SSDs which are part of a RAID array.

Your boot drive won't be part of a RAID array so there shouldn't be any problem.

I can confirm this is OK from my own setup. A boot drive (i.e. a single member drive) will have TRIM just like if the BIOS was set to AHCI. The SSD though that is the cache drive will not have TRIM so the advice if needed is to do a secure erase on it manually every few months (but not more often and you will need to de-accelerate the cache drive first and remove it from the array)
