Hi,

I just wondered what the stock cooler for C2Ds is like these days?

When I first got my 3GHZ 530 the stock cooler was absolutely terrible! Loud & hot.

What kind of temps and noise would I see on a E6600 with the stock cooler?

Thanks,
Craig.

Well, my e6600 is still squating under the stock thing, and I seem to be getting 42 -45 c when not doing much, internet, word, etc. But it ramps up a bit when gaming 55 - 62ish after a couple of hours of double agent or oblivion. This is stock speeds on a P5K deluxe, lian li case with front and rear fans and tidy cables. My current ambiant temp is 29 c. Noise levels are fine, but I can't say I'm impressed with the temps. I can't decide what to go for to replace the intel thing. I'm tending towards a scythe mine, but something stops me pressing the buy button

on stock cooler? do you live in alaska or what?

on stock cooler yes, i have touched the heatsink a few times and it doesnt feel that hot, feels slightly warm, maybe its not seated correctly?

hasnt failed on me yet.

Lol mine sits idle, at 20c on coretemp. and 27c on asusprobe

never seen it above 37 unless orthos is caning it. then it hits about 51.

It seems the temps vary a lot with the stock cooler. I have soon a few people with idle @ 25-30 and then other people with idle @ 40-50, I guess it all depends on how the thing sits and the environment.

Back when I had the stock cooler on my 3GHZ 530 it was getting 67+ under load which is over the recommended heat

I guess I'll stick a Tuniq or Ninja in with my order of my new PC as when I get the computer built I don't want to start messing around with new heatsinks etc.

thats very true, my pc used to be situated downstairs next to a window where sunlight bled in and caused the cpu to idle at around 54, but now its upstairs in my room with my door open and a drafty window and idles at around 31, it makes a bloody huge differance where you sit the comp itself! =)

I'm always wary of amazing temp readings with stock coolers, i instantly suspect dodgy motherboard thermometers and more often than not that turns out to be the case.

Well ill be going from Stock to a Noctua next week. Ill report temp changes with screen shots from Asusprobe and Coretemp.

See if there is a significant drop.
