GUYS , im looking at upgrading in a few weeks time , but have forund my self having a rethink was looking at i5 2500k as i want to oc a bit, but which is the equvilent AMD cpu and mobo cheers
Darren.

I looked at AMD when upgrading then went for I5.

The power usage of a clocked AMD expecially the X6 is far higher than the I5 and the motherboards no longer work out much cheaper.

I have AMD in other systems but my main PC is I5 now.

i5 is faster than Bulldozer, this is a fact

Despite what you may see or hear, we are one of the least brand loyal forums around and there's a reason everyone uses i5. Years ago we all used Athlons because quite simply put, they were better at the time.

Except when Bulldozer beats i5 of course, I assume you mean? If you try and state a fact, it would be probably better to state ones that can't be refuted.

Either way, if you want to spend £150 on a cpu, get a 2500k, if you want to spend £230, get a 2600k, if you want to spend £50-100, get a phenom.

If the i3 Sandy was competitively priced(£105 for two cores and 50% less performance than a 2500k), at £75-80 I'd not recommend a cheap quad core phenom.
