Hey,

I'm trying to connect a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to our 3Com 3CRWDR100A-72. It used to work fine, but I've come back home after a few weeks and it no longer works!

The PC I am typing from is connected fine to the network, but the laptop won't. It can see the network, but it gets stuck on "Acquiring Network Adress". In Event Viewer the same pattern comes up every time I try to connect; 3 times it says succesfully connected, then followed seconds later by "network connection lost" or something.

The laptop is using a Intel 3945ABG wifi card with driver version 10.5.1.72 and running Windows XP Pro. I've checked MAC Address filtering, re-checked the WPA key about 50 times etc. etc. and I'm at my wits end :( any suggestions?

Cheers,

Suman

Ok, I disabled power saving and upgraded to the latest drivers at the same time... one of those seemed to do the trick!

[edit] Problems again, please see below :(

Thanks,

Suman

Playing a hunch if you reset the router all is well again yet every time you suspend/disable wifi and then re-enable it your wifi throws a wobbly ?

Hey,

Nope, resetting the Router doesn't work :( I solved it this time by installing Intel ProSET and connecting using that instead of the Windows wireless options. Only a matter of time before it breaks again though I guess  I thought Intel wireless was meant to be reliable?! Yet I have less issues with D-Link and 3Com kit...

Cheers,

Suman
