Will updating the firmware via the bootable iso delete everything that is on the drive?

Also, will I need to update my firmware. Pack date is: 11/10/09.

Thanks.

updating your firmware shouldn't delete your files, but sensible precautions should be taken. I have seen a couple of posts noting that the sdd was wiped.

Yes, you should update you firmware, for TRIM etc. The bootable CD will tell you if your firmware needs updating

You can tell your firmware version by going into device manager.

So, go to control panel,
hardware,
device manager,
disk drives,
select the drive, right click on the drive,
select properties,
select details tab,
then select hardware id from the property drop down tab and you will see your current firmware number.
