OK i have dipped into all the current threads about the intel x25 and now im just confused, can someone please advise me on setup and maintenance.

Installed in a shuttle, did nothing but plugged in booted to my usb drive and installed win7.

seems faster, have a few questions..

How do i know the firmware and if i should upgrade it?

Maintenance needed? i turned off defrag, anything else i should do in windows or bios?

Any further info?

If you dont have the latest firmware you should update it to get trim support.

As to checking current firmware this is a little tricky. Two ways I know of doing this are use the Intel toolbox util - unfortunately this is current not on the intel site for download as they have a small issue with it. The other way is use the intel matrix storage console - however installing this will also instal the intel controller drivers and you do not want these installed as they currently do not support trim.

Easiest way might just be to try the update proceedure - it will tell you current firmware and say if it needs updating or not

You should not need to do anything if you have win 7 ,latest firmware and are using the MS controller drivers.

Crystal disk info will tell you the firmware you have i updated mine and it using 2CV102HD and at the bottom has trim working now.

i bought mine on monday and it did not have the latest firmware on, so i reccomend you just do the update process, its really simple m8.

ok i updated the firmware... had issues though

it failed first off and said i should enable something in my bios (forgotten what) i then went and did that and tried to flash again..........however it said it was on the latest version? i presume everything is ok? when windows booted it did something behind the scenes and asked me to reboot... do you think TRIM is now enabled?

Tried again below but it said it was on the latest???
