Hi,

I have been using my g2 for about a month with no problems.
Yesterday i update the drive with the new firmware. I followed all the instructions. Did a fresh install of windows 7. All seemed to be working fine. I rebooted a few times due to driver installations. No sign of any problems.
This morning i come home from uni, turn my pc on and i'm greeted with bios message similar to "please insert bootable media and restart". I try rebooting numerous times but the same message appears.
I go into the bios and nothing has changed, the ssd is in the hdd list. The boot priority is still the ssd. AHCI is still selected (i did change this to compatibilty for the firmware update and then back before windows install).
When i try to repair or reinstall windows from the dvd, the ssd is not in the list of hdd's.
However i was able to let the installation recognise the drive again after using hdderase.
So now i try to reinstall windows, install worked no problems.
But this time i after one reboot, i'm back to square one.

Any ideas to what is happening?

Thanks,

Phil.

Sounds like a dodgy drive to me, Failure rates are going to be a lot less than for Mechanical drives, but they are still going to happen occasionally, same as you sometimes get a dodgy stick of RAM.

Try reapplying the firmware update and then If you can get into Windows, try running the drive diagnostic on Intels new SSD toolkit.

The Intel forums are full of people with bricked X25 Gen 2 drives. Seems to happen with both Win 7 and Vista systems - both RAIDed and standard.

Personally, my firmware update worked fine but I am as nervous as heck now each time I reboot.
