I have looked on the Intel web site and the model I have SSDSA2MH080G101. The G101 tells us its a gen 1

Not having TRIM isn't the end of the world, I got a G1 earlier in the year, and it's a great drive...certainly wouldn't call it a pup.

Ok, I will run with htis drive and when the next gen come out next year will move the Intel into my lapdog
The G1 with new firmware actually copes really well, see this article - http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=691&type=expert
It still performs close to new even when in a 'used' state. Under normal usage scenarios you won't notice anything. TRIM is nice, but if you saved a decent chunk of cash theres nothing wrong with the G1.

Had already done that and it says I have latest firmware so still can't do trim

At last, the Intel SSD Toolbox will optimise my SSD !!! (I doubt it will change my life, but the old version told me that it couldn`t optimise a RAID system - I don`t have a RAID system, I think it`s because I employ "the enemy", AMD).
I feel a benchmark coming on. How sad is that ?
